Meet the Team: Orion, Team Leader

We at Metro consider ourselves to be a strong, close-knit team. We get along well, and take great pride in the expertise and experience of each and every team member. In order to pay homage to this (and to show off a bit), we’ll be running a staff insights feature regularly on our blog. The first member of the team we’ll be introducing you to is Orion. Get to know him a bit by reading below.

Orion has recently been made team leader here at Metro, and we look forward to seeing his experience and knowledge at work, setting an example for our on-site crews. Although he has been fulfilling this role for some time, it has only recently become his official title. We’re happy to congratulate him on the new role, something which is well deserved after five years with the company!

Orion has been in the roofing industry for eight years now. After graduating from matric, he was taken under his brother’s wing who introduced him to the trade. A young, starry-eyed Orion was hooked immediately, as he loved the practical nature of the work and being able to see the results of his labours. Three years later, in 2010, he joined the Metro team as a specialist roofer and has gone from strength to strength, constantly improving on his already brilliant skills and expanding his repertoire. His favourite moment of the last five years at Metro actually came about in his first few weeks, when Orion saw that the way in which we work our projects was different to those he had worked previously, and he instantaneously identified the opportunity to learn new skills. As previously mentioned, this is something that he puts work into on a daily basis.

Orion is a family man, and when he isn’t on a roof somewhere, he can be found spending time with his fiancé and two children. He will be getting married in 2016 and our best wishes go out to him. He is also an avid supporter of Liverpool FC, as well as a big fan of the Stormers rugby franchise. As far as he is concerned, there is nothing better in this world than spending a weekend with his family, catching up on a bit of sport and playing a game of football.

It has been an absolute pleasure so far, and we look forward to seeing what Orion can do as a team leader.
